At Sundari we are always trying to bring our spectacular varieties of gemstones to the forefront in our pendant ranges. This is because pendants can quite often be excused for being more unusual in shape, and design than other types of jewellery so we really go to town with large ranges of one off designs.
Our ranges of pendants can come in the more popular gemstones such as amethyst, garnet, and black onyx, as well as the more unusual chalcedony, a variety of different agate stones, and also various types of rutilated quartz. Marcasite jewellery is very distinctive and in the UK has a long history as it has been very popular since the 19th Century. The origins of the word date as far back as the 12th century with its origins in the Arab alchemy world meaning Iron Sulfide, which is in fact the key component of this gemstone. The Marcasite gemstone is fairly brittle and is traditionally set in small clusters. Over the past few years new modern designs are being created in earrings, necklaces and bracelets, but its history rests still with Art Deco style, which is the main design for which it is known.
